Corsets
- are they comfortable?
A
correctly fitted corset should fit snugly all over, without
being uncomfortably tight; if you wish to reduce your waist,
lace your corset slightly tighter each time you wear it. If
you like your clothes tight then the answer is a resounding
yes. If you feel constricted in tight clothing and this is
uncomfortable for you then perhaps the answer is no! Corsets
can be worn very tight (as in tightlacing for that hourglass
figure - please see care of your corset) or snugly.
How
to select my size
When
ordering a corset, usually deduct approximately
4 inches / 10 cm. smaller than your natural waist when
determining the size.
Caring
for your corset.
Corsets
should last a long time, provided they are properly cared
for; ensure your corset is not too small for you, do not over
tighten it and have it professionally dry cleaned. Leather
or suede corsets should only be cleaned by a leather specialist.
DO
NOT over tighten or you will damage your corset; corsets mould
to the body after a short period and the material takes the
strain evenly, then you can go a little tighter.
Which
style of corset is suitable?
Underbust
or overbust, silk or denim. Fabric is really a matter of personal
choice. Certain styles however are suitable for differing
body shapes. For instance, an under bust style or a longer
style which supports the bust. If you have a fuller bust,
cup size DD or larger you are more suited to an underbust
style.
Height
should also be taken into account, (overbust styles only)
any corsets in a "longer" style are not suitable for
anyone under 5'3" (160 cm). These same corsets are particularly
suitable for the tall among us, over 5'8" (170 cm).
